VISAS |
The Consular Section is at the basement of Ghana Embassy on
the left side, as one faces the Chancery Building at 1-5-21,
Nishi Azabu, Minato- Ku, Tokyo, 106 - 0031, Japan. See

The Consular Section, Visa sub - section opens from 10:00HRS-13:30HRS
on Tuesdays and Thursdays for submission of application. Passport
can be collected daily. a) Visa type:
In line with the Immigration Laws of Ghana, we issue various
types of entry Visas to non-Ghanaians on demand and willing
to travel to Ghana. Below are the various types of Visas issued
at the Tokyo Embassy with the respective Visa fees attached:

Note:
In the case of Commonwealth Nations'
Entry Permits, issued by the Ghana diplomatic Mission or Consulate
abroad or any other Visa Issuing Authority mandated by the Ghana
Government to act on its behalf will be considered.
b)Exemptions ECOWAS
nationals and those of the Countries with which the Government
of Ghana has specific bilateral agreements, are exempted. The
following are so far considered exempted
Countries.
Under Section 3 (Exemption) of the Ghana Visa Regulations, the
following Countries and Categories of persons are exempted from
entry visas to Ghana.

ECOWAS Countries with valid documents or the necessary
visas. |

Nationals of

of Regional Economic Communities of Africa and African
Economic Community |
Nationals of the following Commonwealth
East and Southern Africa Countries may obtain Ghana Entry
Visas from Missions / Consulates abroad or may obtain visas
at the point of Entry in Ghana.
The Commonwealth East and South African
Countries include:

Persons in direct airside transit. c)Prohibited
Immigrants
The under-mentioned categories are Prohibited
immigrants:

A person against whom there is a deportation
order in force |

A person who has been sentenced in a
foreign Country for extradition under the Extradition

d)Inoculation:
In accordance with International Regulations all persons entering
Ghana are requested to have valid certificates of Immunization
against Yellow Fever.
Valid Certificate of inoculation against Yellow Fever will be
inspected at point of entry into Ghana (at Kotoka International
Airport and any other air or seaports).
Ensure you take back your inoculation certificate and present
it at the Port of Entry in Ghana. e)General
Visa Conditions

i) |
Visa may be granted to personnel of International
Organization and visitors to Ghana for tourism, study,
business or transit. |
| ii) |
Visa may be granted for single or multiple
entries. This does not guarantee residency in Ghana above
90 days. |
| iii) |
Entry visas are valid for a period not
more that three (3) months [90days] and should be utilized
within three months of the date of issue or considered
expired. Visas valid for up to one year may be granted
for specific purposes. |
| iv) |
Visitors traveling on business are required
to furnish evidence of that fact, such as a letter from
their companies, firms or organizations. While those traveling
at the invitation of Ghanaian nationals or residents or
Ghanaian Institutions should provide letter of invitation
to that effect. It is preferred the Ghanaian hosts copy
such invitation directly to the Ghana Embassy, Consular
Section. |
| v) |
Emergency visas may be issued at the
various entry points to travelers who arrive from a Country
where there is no Ghanaian Diplomatic or Consular representative,
but such applications must be authorized by the Director
of the Immigration Service of Ghana through applicants'
sponsors before their arrival in Ghana. |
| vi) |
Visa extensions are possible only with
the authorization of the Director of Ghana Immigration
Service or Persons acting in that capacity. Tourist may
be allowed a period of stay of up to three (3) months
if the Ghana Immigration Service is satisfied that such
tourists have sufficient financial support directly or
through their sponsors. |
| vii) |
Persons who enter Ghana, as visitors
are not permitted to take up employment even if there
happens to be a vacancy on the Immigrant Quota of a prospective
employer. |
| viii) |
Professionals (Doctors, Lawyers, Nurses,
Accountants and Economist etc.) are required to provide
prove of their qualifications in order that the eligibility
of their registration may be determined. |
| ix) |
The Validity of the Applicant's Passport
should be more or equal to 6 months at the time of
application for the Ghana Entry Visa. |
| x) |
For teenage applicants under 18 years
old, letters of Guarantee from applicants' Parent(s) or
Guardian(s) are required too. |
| xi) |
All Official Applicants must pass through
the Host Ministry of Foreign Affairs (GAIMUSHO) and backed
with a Note Verbale requesting for the specific
visa in the Name and Profession (purpose) of the applicant.

Note:
(1)Multiple Entry Visas endorsed for six (6) months means that
the applicant is granted unlimited entries into Ghana within
six (6) months of date of issue of the visa. It does not entitle
the applicant to enter and remain in Ghana for six (6) months
without any exits.
(2)On each entry into Ghana, the Immigration Service shall determine
the duration of stay.
(3)Applicants should be Japanese Nationals or other citizens
officially resident in Japan with valid residence visa or otherwise
permitted by the Japanese Immigration Authorities.
f)Application
Applicants should submit-one set of signed Visa
Application Forms (In Quadruplicate) and other documents.
These includes:
- Four fully completed Visa Application Form in BLOCK
CAPITALS (only in English).
- Four (4) Recent Passport size photographs (taken full
face & Preferably Colored)
- An International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow
Fever
- A Returned Ticket or a flight confirmation statement from
an acknowledged Travel Agency.
- Four fully completed Personal History Form.
- Valid Passport for at least six (6) months (before expiry)
- Evidence of financial support; copy of recent bank statement
or letter from Bankers or Sponsors
- A self-addressed envelope for the return of Passport.
Passport is sent collect.
Please remember that any incomplete form and /or
incorrect submission will be considered as void. Mission will
take no responsibilities for any delays or damages.

g)Visa Fees and Methods of Payments:
- Single Entry - 9,440yen
- Multiple Entry - 11,000yen
- Transit - (single Entry) - 9,440yen
- Transit - (Multiple Entry) -11,000yen
- Student -( Single Entry) - 9,440yen
All payments must be made in Cash at the front desk and an Acknowledgement
Receipt indicating the amount paid is given immediately. Note
your appointment times and dates.
We also accept international money order or Bank Draft.(Additional
3000 yen is required for bank charges.)
Receipts will be given later with or without the visas as applicants
pick up their Passports.
At the request of applicants, an additional Y******, shall be
paid for expedite / emergency service within the same day.
All Visa application fees are nun-refundable.
h)Processing Period
It takes a minimum of THREE (3) working days to process
an application submitted at the counter and FIVE (5)
working days to process Postal applications as from the day
it was received. Note: the Consular Section of the
Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, Tokyo, Japan or the Ghana
Government or its employees are not responsible for any postal
difficulties, deficiencies, inadequacies and delays.
