Akawaaba’ (Welcome!)
I am Hiroyuki Watanabe, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Ghana, Fukuoka.
We established an Honorary Consulate in August 2006. It is the first Honorary consulate in Japan and we are in charge of Kyushu and Okinawa Area. It was my great honor to be appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Ghana.
Ghana is familiar with Japanese citizens thanks to Dr. Noguchi who did research of yellow fever and died in Ghana. The country is maybe more popular because of a popular bar of chocolate named after Ghana.
Ghana is a peaceful country that will cerebrate 50th anniversary of the Independence in 2007. I am ready to help deepen the relationship between Japan and Ghana as well as Ghana and Kyushu and Okinawa Area including Fukuoka.
At the Consulate, we issue VISA for the people in Kyushu and Okinawa who are planning to visit Ghana. We are also exhibiting and selling Ghana chocolate and Ghanaian items.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the Consulate.
